In my 61 years on this globe, I have seen five downturns. This si the worst one. It came sooner than I was expecting. the one and only reason tfor this downturn of the economy is the prce of ol. It was artificially increased by those blood thirsty goons in the Bush White House. The oil merchants got into the White House and in the second term took advantage of the envirnoment scare and talked of oil depletion and thus putting everythin up ij price for the consumers (Gas, Food, Heating homes,Hydro ..you namee it!) This shook the consumers and thus brought the Economy-Train toa fullstop. The mortgage market has always been selling at "liars" mortgage rates and fees etc. this time the mortgage market got caught in the mess to the delight of the oil-merchants, otherwise the oil refinaries in the gulf areas of the US would be on fires by the consumers!! The French population has a bettter idea. They are thumping their hands on the politicians desk for bailing out the very banks that got us into trouble, while the timid US population are taking each blow with meekness.
